This project was created in response to the British Colour Council's Dictionary of Colour Standards, as part of a group exhibition organised by artist Heather Boxall. Each artist selected a colour from the Colour Standards catalogue. Selected colour: Pea Green (172).
'Pea Green Surprise' explores the language of early commercial colour photography, especially in post-war cookbooks. Food is presented as a visual spectacle, elaborate, and often ludicrous. 'Pea Green Surprise' is presented as a series of recipe cards from the fictional 'British Colour Council Cookery Collection'.
This work was exhibited as part of the Curious Colour exhibition, held at Linden Mill Gallery, Hebden Bridge in August 2021.
